Windy But Worthwhile

The day before PACK EXPO Las Vegas was all about hitting the green and giving back to the packaging industry as 175 golfers participated in the 2009 PMMI Education & Training Foundation Golf Tournament at the Pauite Golf Course in Las Vegas. In spite of the windy conditions, players and onlookers enjoyed a day of golfing, networking and fundraising for an important cause. The tournament raised approximately $25,000 which will be used to support scholarships to packaging students.

Hall of Fame Welcomes New Inductees

Active PMMI members Patrick J. Helm, Balluff, Inc. and Mark Jacobson, Econocorp, Inc. along with industry leaders Dwight C. Schmidt, Fibre Box Association; James E. Scott, JES Packaging; and Dennis E. Young, Michigan State University were named to the Packaging Hall of Fame at a ceremony on October 5 at PACK EXPO Las Vegas 2009.

The Packaging Hall of Fame recognizes career packaging professionals for their significant contributions to packaging education—for advancing the science, technology and/or practice of packaging; expanding the knowledge and understanding of packaging; and serving as remarkable volunteers. PMMI coordinates the honor which has been awarded annually since 1971.
